Why Was John Dutton’s Face Not Shown in Yellowstone Season 5 Episode 11?

John Dutton has been the protagonist of Yellowstone since the very beginning of the series. However, in Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2, John met a rather tragic demise. After everything he has done for his estate as well as his family, in my opinion, he deserved a better send-off than the one he got. However, you might have noticed that throughout Season 5 Part 2, John Dutton’s face was not shown to us and the same was the case in Season 5 Episode 11. So, without further ado, let’s find out why John Dutton’s face wasn’t shown.

John Dutton’s Face Was Not Shown Because of Kevin Costner’s Exit

After the filming of Yellowstone Season 5 Part 1, Kevin Costner and the team of Yellowstone found themselves in several disagreements and issues. This eventually led to Kevin Costner leaving Yellowstone for good and confirmed that he would not be returning for Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2. John Dutton’s face was not shown in Yellowstone Season 5 Episode 11 because Kevin Costner is no longer a part of the Yellowstone cast.

This is also the reason why his character was killed off in the very first episode which as I said before, in my opinion, was not a very good send-off to such an important character. Since Kevin Costner has cut all ties with Yellowstone the show has no official right to use even a CGI face, so, they have just used a body double to depict the scene where he was killed.

However, there is a possibility that we might get to see Josh Lucas as a young John Dutton in further episodes but as of now, nothing is confirmed regarding when or where he will appear. So, let’s wait and see what happens, and till then, stay tuned with us for further updates!
